FCC Report Shows High Telephone Penetration Rate

FCC Report Shows High Telephone Penetration Rate

Posted on September 1, 2010

The FCC has released its latest report on telephone subscribership levels in the United States.  The report’s data on telephone penetration are based on the Current Population Survey (CPS) conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau.  The report finds that 96.0% of all households in the United States had telephone service—wireline or wireless—in March of 2010.  It is the highest reported rate since the CPS began collecting telephone subscribership data in November 1983.
